The factory throttle valve on the 6.7 Cummins engine works with the EGR system to recirculate exhaust gases into the intake, which helps in lowering emissions. However, this setup may not be ideal for off-road performance trucks!
One often overlooked component when performing a complete EGR delete on your Cummins is the stock throttle valve. In the presence of the EGR system, this valve regulates the mixture of fresh air and exhaust gases by adjusting its position. When the EGR system is removed, the stock throttle valve no longer has a source of intake air when it closes.Â
To counter this issue, many EGR delete tunes will bypass the throttle valve entirely, leaving the actuator disconnected. Sometimes, the valve might unintentionally close partially or fully, potentially starving your engine of air and leading to power loss, engine shutdown, or even damage at high RPMs. Even when open, the stock throttle valve can restrict airflow.
Avoid potential issues with your old throttle valve. Opt for Diesel Edge's Throttle Valve Delete for the 6.7L Cummins and enhance your EGR delete setup.
